Hello Friends and Relatives, November 2008

November, the month of Thanksgiving. And we are thankful for all we have been given and were able to do over the past month.

We had a chance to see Presidential Candidate McCain at the Orlando Conference Center and made calls for the party at a local headquarters.

Our little playhouse down in the historical district of Titusville had a show “Side by Side” which we saw on Nov. 9th, we are season ticket holders there.

Our resort leisure association had the first of five Concerts here at the park on Nov. 13th We were entertained by country singer Glen Anderson & comedian Timothy Hawkins. What a show! Our community spares very little when it comes to keeping us entertained.

With all the concerts, Thursday night movies and Friday night socials we keep pretty busy here. Now they are planning the New Years Eve Party and 20 Year Birthday Bash of the resort, along with a two day variety show.

On the 14th of Nov. we had the shuttle “Endeavor” launch at night Wow was that too cool. We hope to see the landing this Sunday at 1:18pm if it’s ok that we miss a little of the Buccaneers football game.

Our Thanksgiving meal was at the TGO Church this year, We made sweet potatoes to share. All in all it was a real nice meal. A few days earlier the Church had put on a show in honor of all past and present soldiers. It was very moving.

My Marge still keeps up with her Bowling, Yoga, Zumba and Curves. I just ride around in the patrol car and eat coffee & donuts all day. I try to ride my scooter daily and keep the landscaping up to par. Speaking of par we have been here for over four years, living on the 14th hole of the Resort Golf course and have yet to play. Go figure!

We are looking forward to our Holiday trip to New Jersey and Virginia to visit our family members. We have 10 different houses to visit, in 7 different cities and 2 different states all in 8 days. You can do it if you plan it well…………..

Hello All,

We have been busy as usual in the month of October. Early in the month we had a chance to see "Burn After Reading" at the movies and "Made of Honor" at our “TGO Theater.”
Dave worked every Mon & Tues and occasionally on the weekend to fill in for someone.

The second week of the month we took a bus trip to see the fall foliage in Helen, Georgia and Chattanooga,TN. In Helen they celebrate Oktoberfest every day in October. German food, oompa-pa band, etc. They also had a quaint little village with shops. Then on to Dahlonega to pan for gold. After that we traveled on to Chattanooga to ride the train. It was a great trip but the trees really don’t change as much as Jersey or maybe they will later on. We met a couple on the bus that also met at Parent’s Without Partners in Massachusetts. There is a couple in Marge’s bowling league that also met at PWP many years ago. Small world! As you can see by the pics we had a carport put in the front of our house to keep the front part of our car & cart out of the sun & rain. The next to the last week in the month we went camping in Lake Okeechobee which is only a couple hours from our house. The whole weekend was paid for by the Giant Recreation World Gold Club we belong to, along with all the meals. They do this once a year after you have attended at least three camp outs. We really enjoy these little trips. In December we are going to Mount Dora for a 3 day trip and in February a Hillbilly Campout.

Our resort held two parties this month, “The Welcome Back Party" and the “Annual Halloween Party.” We decided to be Gypsies for the Halloween party.
As we follow the sports, both local & national, we find the Phillies & Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series. Would you believe Marge is routing for the Phillies and Dave is for the Tampa Bay Rays. She also still cheers for the Eagles and the Sixers. Dave is now a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
Our local football team is the Titusville Terriers they are soso with a 4W 2L season. We enjoy attending the games and get in for free (senior citizens). We can use our gold card to attend all activities and shows.

Marge’s eldest son Jeff turned 45 this month, her son Tom turned 44 and her daughter, Amy turned 40. She can’t believe she has children in their forties. Dave's two boys, both in Iraq, ran across each other in an army cafeteria. We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for Gary & Brian.
As you can see by the news article from our local newsletter, Dave was the hero, “A night in shining armor."

Marge found another guy! Na it's a train conductor from the old days, we visited a train museum while in Tenn.

This is a picture of the actual sleeping rooms at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel, they use old sleep cars and converted them into hotel rooms.

We stayed on the second floor overlooking the pool . The rate was much better there. You can see the sleep cars off to the right.

This is our room plain, but clean and cheap...................

Dahlonega, a town we stopped in to do some gold digging. Found not a zip none but it was fun.

Now, this is the place Helen,Ga. its just like being in Germany and its Octoberfest every day.

The whole town is converted into a German lifestyle, a must to see if you are in the area.

We just loved it here...............
